Surviving a Patriarchy on Steroids offers a beacon of feminist light in this time of darkness. Stephanie Davies captures the rage and grief so many people are feeling as we navigate a world where men still dominate and their cruelty and violence are on overdrive. But at its heart, the book is a love story to everyday women – their solidarity, creativity, and spirit – as they’ve resisted misogyny for centuries and still do.
Stephanie Davies is a Kerhonkson-based writer, speaker coach, and event organizer with a passion for social justice. She’s worked for Doctors Without Borders, North Star Fund, the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative, the Plum Village Community of Thich Nhat Hanh, and UNAIDS, among others.
Surviving A Patriarchy on Steroids is her second book. She is also the author of the coming-of-age memoir Other Girls Like Me, which is currently in development for film.
In 2024, Stephanie received the Lambda Literary Jeanne Cordova Prize for Lesbian/Queer Nonfiction.
On Our Way / En Nuestro Camino is a bilingual poetic work in Spanish and English that unfolds as a written meditation. As a designer, Jacinta founded the creative studio Brandia and developed various social projects connected to community building, sustainability, and the advocacy of women’s rights. Her writing and her practice share a common intention: to return to the body, to inhabit the present moment, and from there, to open a space of shared presence.
Jacinta Lanz is a poet and meditation guide. Her work exists at the intersection of language, the body, and the direct experience of the present, exploring breath as a form of listening and return. She accompanies individuals and communities through conscious breathing practices. She offers in-person classes in Todos Santos, Baja California, shares guided meditations on Insight Timer, and facilitates retreats and collective gatherings.
